Cherry jubilee cheesecake bars

1 package cherry or strawberry cake mix

1/2 cup softened butter

2 packages cream cheese

One tub cherry or strawberry frosting

3 eggs

Beat together cake mix and butter in a large bowl until crumbly; reserve 1 cup. Press the above crumbly mixture minus the 1 cup into a 9- by 13-inch ungreased pan. Beat the two packages of cream cheese together with the tub of frosting. Beat in three eggs until blended. Pour the mixture over the crust. Sprinkle with reserved crumbly mixture. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes or until set. Cool completely. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before cutting. Refrigerate any remaining bars.
