Parlor talk, talkin'

It is quite overwhelming for a small-town farm girl to go to the big city, and it must be for a good reason in order for me to adventure there. I think celebrating a birthday qualifies as a good reason to go to a big city — Nashville, Tennessee, that is.

We spent three days there, taking in all that we could. Our adventure started with moonshine tasting at Ole Smokey Distillery, and just a short walk later, we joined the crowded streets and bright lights of Broadway. Each place has live bands— yes, plural — on multiple floors. I still am in awe of that fact. Such incredible talent to really give you the country music feel. We checked out all the shops and enjoyed some great food while on Broadway.

We spent some time in the beautiful, scenic Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area meandering through the trails horseback. If you know me, you know I couldn't go on vacation without a trail ride, especially in such a beautiful area. It was the highlight of my trip, in fact, and there’s nowhere else I would've rather spent my birthday. We had planned a bike tour for our last day, but the tornado warning took priority. Once the threat of severe weather had passed, we took in more of Broadway.

It was a whirlwind of a trip and quite a change of pace from what I'm used to. You can take the girl out of the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the girl.
