Wojtalewicz is looking forward to a time when he can show a calf at the fair. He and Snowflake were spending time together, waiting for the other animals to undergo their final preparations for the dairy show.

Cortnee Peterson works to put a show halter on Paisley, her kid doe Boer goat, July 18 at the Amherst Fair in Amherst, Wisconsin. Peterson, keeps a small herd of goats on her family’s Portage County dairy farm. Twice a day, she is responsible for milking her four goats. Peterson had the champion meat goat with a yearling doe Boer named Blueberry.

Everet Elizalde leads his Holstein cow during the senior showmanship contest July 18 at the Amherst Fair in Amherst, Wisconsin. Elizalde’s family operates Evergroen Acres Organics near Amherst Junction, Wisconsin, where they milk 90 cows. He has been showing dairy cattle for five years, beginning after his family moved their dairy to Wisconsin from Washington.

Natalie Carlson shows off her goat in senior showmanship July 18 at the Amherst Fair in Amherst, Wisconsin. Carlson, topped the senior showmanship classes of both the goat and dairy cattle shows at the fair. She and her sister have a herd of 17 goats, which they have been breeding since 2022.
