Sixth grade

When do you do chores? I help milk cows both in the morning and evening. We milk at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. I can help for an hour before getting on the bus for school.

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? We milk in a converted hog confinement barn, and it has a slatted floor with a scraper underneath. My favorite part of chores is scraping the slats to get ready for milking. My least favorite is running the scraper system under the floor.

What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I really enjoy helping my dad build more pens for our feedlot system.

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. When I was little, I would run everywhere. I once ran all the way to the field because I wanted to ride with Dad in the tractor.

What is your favorite animal on your farm? My favorite animal is my older brother’s red heeler puppy. Her name is Reba, and she is really smart and is learning to chase steers.

What do you want to be when you grow up? When I grow up, I want to be a farmer and a truck driver.

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. My farm would have a big cow barn with a nice office and tool room. It would also have a parlor for the cows.

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? My favorite game on the farm is playing fetch with the dogs.

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? My favorite meal is steak and macaroni and cheese.

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like going to big family gatherings.

What do you like to do during your free time? I like to watch movies with my family.

When do you do chores? I help with chores after school and on the weekends.

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is pushing up feed to the cows. My least favorite chore is watering the hut calves.

What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I enjoy helping fix fences with my parents.

Tell us a memory you have of living on the farm. A memory I have is when I was younger and being little and having to move a wheelbarrow full of bedding and hand-bed the milk cows.

What is your favorite animal on your farm? My favorite animal is my horse, Joe. He is really fun and a fast horse to ride.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a horse trainer when I am older.

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I want to have a farm that has a barn with five horses, two dogs and seven cats.

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? My favorite game is playing tag.

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? My favorite meal is biscuits and gravy with roast beef.

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family, especially my grandparents.

What do you like to do during your free time? In my free time, I like to ride my horse, Joe.
