Tenth grade

When do you do chores? I do my chores in the morning and at night.

 

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is doing my show heifers’ nutrition and doing toplines for the county fair, and my least favorite is re-bedding pens.

 

What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I enjoy helping plant in the spring and going to crop meetings with my dad.

 

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. A fun memory I have is feeding calves with my grandma.

 

What is your favorite animal on your farm? My favorite animal on my farm was Cherrywood Odelia because I took her to the Minnesota State Fair last year. She had the sweetest personality.

 

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to major in dairy management or agricultural business and have a career in the dairy industry.

 

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I would have a huge barn with a heated wash rack filled with show-quality Red & Whites and Milking Shorthorns.

 

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? My favorite game on the farm is racing our goats.

 

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? Chicken alfredo.

 

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I enjoy doing activities in 4-H, such as crop scouting, dairy judging and dairy bowl with my family.

 

What do you like to do in your free time in the spring? In my free time, I enjoy being active in my local FFA chapter, working with my 4-H calves and studying outside with my rabbits.

Isaac Albers

14 years old

Eighth grade

When do you do chores? Morning and night.

 

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is walking the cows. My least favorite chore is doing bedding.

 

What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? This spring, I tilled 500 acres by myself with my dad behind me, planting.

 

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. Showing my calf, Jumping Jenny, at Sauk Centre Dairy Days with my grandparents and siblings.

 

What is your favorite animal on your farm? My favorite animal is Cherrywood Nina because it was so fun working with the Achen family; plus, it was the first Milking Shorthorn I bought.

 

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a Milking Shorthorn dairy farmer.

 

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I would have a barn filled with high-quality Milking Shorthorns.

 

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? To drive my four-wheeler.

 

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? When my mom makes steaks, especially when it was from a mean cow.

 

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? Fishing

and hunting with my family.

 

What do you like to do in your free time in the spring? I like to train my show animals for summer.

Macy Albers

12 years old

Seventh grade

When do you do chores? Morning and night.

 

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is feeding all the crazy animals, and I don’t have a least favorite chore.

 

What project do you enjoy helping your parents on the farm? I like farming and planting.

 

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. During the coronavirus pandemic, when my dad would take me out planting, and we would make videos on planting to show to my classmates.

 

What is your favorite animal on your farm? Probably my goats; my favorite one is Malibu.

 

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to become an ag teacher.

 

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. A huge house with

a lot of land, and I would have too many cows, horses and goats. Then, I would have five golden retrievers — with their own house, of course.

 

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? I’m not sure; there are so many to pick from.

 

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? Pasta.

 

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? Going to Florida in December.

 

What do you like to do in your free time in the spring? Walking my calves and hanging out with friends.
