FFA Member Profile: Bristal Baumann

Posted

Tell us about your farm. I work at Draeger’s Dairy Farm Inc. in Marathon.

Why did you join FFA? I joined FFA because it is something my family has always been involved in, and I wanted to be more involved in agriculture in my life.

What is your role in the chapter? I am an active member of our chapter.

What FFA contests do you compete in? I am competing in the discussion meet this year for my Leadership Development Event, and last year I competed in the creed speaking contest. The Career Development Event that I compete in is farm business management.

What do you look forward to most in the upcoming FFA year? The thing that I look forward to most in the upcoming FFA year is showing my animals at the county fair and possibly becoming an officer.

How has FFA shaped you as a person? FFA has transformed me into a more outgoing individual. It has instilled in me a sense of responsibility and understanding of roles through the activities our chapter participates in.

What are your duties on the farm? My duties at Draeger’s Dairy Farm are to bring the newborn calves to the calf barn, and I feed all the calves that are there. After the calves are taken care of, I head to the main farm and analyze the health reports from the robot. Then I go to the robot farm and check on the cows that are flagged and diagnose them if they need to be.

What are your future plans? My future plans are to attend either the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for ag business or UW-La Crosse for pre-vet while competing in track and field.
