Parlor talk talkin’

We all know farms can be dangerous places if not handled with caution.

I just want to extend a huge thank-you to a local group of volunteers for putting on a great three-part safety course. It’s more than just tractor safety; the youth are learning animal safety tips, farm safety, machinery safety, tractor safety and so much more.

The phrases, “It won’t happen to me” or “I was in a hurry” are used all too often. A lot of great examples were given and reminded people to slow down and take caution.

It’s a jam-packed course with so much information for the youth to take in. Garen is loving the course and is even studying. He has never studied for anything else. But I guess when you find something to be interested in, it becomes important. Garen’s main interest in taking the course is so he can help a neighbor on their farm this summer. I think he is learning way more than he expected and will have a great start to farm safety.

Again, a great big shout out to an amazing group of volunteers taking time out of their schedules to teach our youth — after all, they are next to take over in this great industry of agriculture.
