When the kids were little, they loved to play pick-up sticks on the dining room floor. Piles of twisted colored sticks created giggles and moans as they tried to reach the lone black stick without disturbing the others. I can always tell when the hot sticky days of summer are approaching. It is not by watching the mercury in the thermometer creep closer toward excellent scores. It is not by the fact that everyone sighs with relief as they sit down in the house at the end of the day. It is by watching tails and t-shirts.
